Manchester United have become the latest club to be linked heavily with a move for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal after their new manager Louis van Gaal confirm that the Chilean is one of his favourite players. The 26-year-old has been one of the best midfielders in the world over the last few years. However, his talents have not been used to the maximum at Juventus since the Italian club have been unable to make a switch impact in the Champions League. With the player at his best level, it is understood that he is keen on the prospect of lifting the European cup in his career.
As a result, he has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid over the last few months. Louis van Gaal, for the moment, will be involved with the Dutch national team at the World Cup 2014. His team will be coming up against Chile in the group stages. Despite many considering Spain to be the favourites in this group, Netherlands will be hoping to create an upset. However, Chile post a major difficulty because they could be one of the dark horses of the group. The home support coupled with presence of players like Vidal could help them in this case.
"Chile have very dangerous players. I always wanted to buy Vidal when he was at Bayer Leverkusen but he went to Juventus,” said van Gaal. However, it is becoming clear that Juventus will not part with the star asset unless they receive bids in excess of £ 50 million. The inflated transfer market is unlikely to help United in this regard, but Vidal is one of players who could solve the midfield problem at United. The 26-year-old is not only capable of defending but also creating and joining attacks as well.
