Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has emerged as one of the candidates for the vacant managerial job at Chelsea, while he is also linked with Manchester United.
Chelsea recently parted company with Jose Mourinho while United are also expected to do the same with Louis Van Gaal. The Dutchman has only a top four finish to show for all the spending in the last 18 months at Old Trafford. The club are looking set to miss out on the league title once again, while they recently failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the hampions League despite being in a relatively easy group.
Allegri is seen as a successful manager in Italian football after having been the last to lead AC Milan to a league title. Many thought that he would fail in his attempts to succeed Antonio Conte at Juventus, but he has even surpassed the former manager by leading the club to a Champions League final. Even though Conte won several league titles with Juventus, he failed to deliver the club’s ultimate objective of doing well in Europe. Due to these factors, Allegri has become a front-runner for the vacant job at Chelsea while United will also tempt him with an offer in the near future if Van Gaal is relieved of his duties.
“I have a contract running until 2017. I’m happy here and I’m focused on Juventus’ objectives. They are much more important than these rumours which come from elsewhere. In a month the transfer window will be open, so that’ll please you and you’ll be able to move on.It’ll be a difficult match at Lazio and our mission there will be to move up another place in the table,” said Allegri. After a poor start to the league season, Juventus are now only three points behind leaders Inter Milan.
