Italian Serie A giants Juventus didn't have the best of seasons under club legend Andrea Pirlo last season after they secured fourth spot and a Champions League place on the final day of the season. It must be pointed out that Juventus won two trophies last season despite their inconsistent league form. The Old Lady didn't defend their league title well with the aforementioned fourth place finish thanks to the unexpected slip up from Napoli on the final day of the season.
Juventus won both the Coppa Italia and the Italian Super Cup last season but it was not enough from saving Pirlo who lost his job after one season. The club legend has since been replaced by the more experienced Maximiliano Allegri.
It's not surprising that only one Juventus player made the list of nominees for the FIFPRO XI. The only Old Lady player to make the list is Leonardo Bonucci who was immense for Italy as they won the Euro 2020 tournament in the summer. The Italians were able to add a second European Championship to their trophy haul with the penalty shootout win over hosts England. The Italians scored in the second half through the aforementioned Bonucci to cancel out the opening goal from England through Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw.
Juventus defender Bonucci is joined in defenceby the likes of Barcelona fullbacks Daniel Alves and Jordi Alba as far as the FIFPRO nominees list is concerned. The other nominees in defence are Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold, Manchester City player Ruben Dias and Real Madrid summer signing David Alaba who left Bavarian giants Bayern Munich to join Real Madrid on a free transfer. The Austrian international opted not to sign a new deal at the Allianz Arena as he wanted a new adventure. He has started his Real Madrid career well leading the team to the top of the Spanish La Liga table.
