Juventus are reportedly weighing up a bid for Real Madrid loanee James Rodriguez according to reports in Italy. Top Italian tabloid Calcio Mercato claims that Rodriguez could be on his way to Italy as the club looks to strengthen their midfield
Rodriguez is considered as one of the elite attacking midfielders of his generation and currently plays for Bayern Munich on loan from Real Madrid. The German side have an option to sign the player permanently but this looks unlikely.
Rodriguez is blessed with the ability to shoot from distance, an excellent set-piece taker and a creative playmaker.
The 27-year-old is close friends with Cristiano Ronaldo during his time at Madrid and the Portuguese could be a swaying factor for the transfer. Furthermore, he shares the same agent as Ronaldo in super-agent Jorge Mendes.
There have also been claims that both clubs could agree to a straight swap involving Paulo Dybala. Dybala has been underwhelming this season performing below standard and Juventus are open to selling the player in the summer.
A swap deal could work well as both clubs would be able to fix the major problems affecting them. Juventus would be a good destination for the midfielder as he would be able to thrive with the slow tempo of the Italian League.
French Champions PSG have also been linked with the player as they look to add more creativity to the midfield. The Colombia international has a market value of £45 million which makes him a good signing for any of the top teams.
At 27 years of age Rodriguez is just entering his peak and would be valuable in the middle of the park for any team.
He could also return to Real Madrid and take part in the rebuilding process under Zinedine Zidane but that looks highly unlikely.
