Juventus manager Maximiliano Allegri has disclosed that influential defender Leonardo Bonucci will miss the Turin Derby clash with Torino in the Italian Serie A afterhe picked up an injury during the game at Atalanta in the same competition last weekend. Bonucci has not had the best of starts to 2022 mainly due to injuries. The Italian Serie A game with Atalanta which ended in a 1-1 draw thanks to the stoppage time equaliser from Juventus fullback Danilo was the first game of 2022 for Bonucci.
Allegri confirmed that Bonucci will miss the visit ofTorino on Friday night due to injury during his pre-match press conference ahead of the game. According to him, the Italian central defender has calf fatigue and he’s a big doubt for the Champions League round of 16 first leg clash with hosts Villarreal on Tuesday. The Juventus boss said they will find out much later if Bonucci will recover in time for the trip to face the Yellow Submarines in Spain. The ex-AC Milan boss said that Bonucci was already fatigued in the first half of the Atalanta game as it was his first match this year.
Allegri further said that he doesn't know ifAlvaro Morata, new signing Dusan Vlahovic or Paulo Dybala will play against city rivals Torino. On the other injury issues in his team, the Juventus manager said that Italian winger Federico Bernardeschi is not ready to return to action as he's yet to fully recover from his adductor injury. Also, the Italian senior national team duo of Giorgio Chiellini and Federico Chiesa won’t be available for the Torino game as a result of injury.
Brazil international Danilo won’t be part of the Juventus squad for the Turin Derby encounter with Torino at home. However, his absence would be due to suspension rather than injury.
