JUVENTUS MAINTAIN LEAD ON SERIE A TABLE.

Juventus were narrowly able to win their match against Palermo on Saturday to maintain their one point lead over Napoli and stay on top of the Serie A league.

In order to achieve this feat, Juve needed an own goal from Edoardo Goldaniga who unfortunately deflected a strike from DaniAlves that found its way to the back of the Palermo side net in the second half period of the game.

With a one point lead over Napoli to protect and a Champions League game slated for Tuesday, Juve travelled to Sicily to engage Palermo. Juventus Coach, Massimiliano Allegro had earlier chosen to rest Paulo Dybala who was replaced by Mario Mandzukic. This decision almost paid off as the Croatian came close to sending the ball into the back of the net a couple of times.

It took Massimiliano Allegro's men 15 minutes after their lucky goal to get a shot on goal from Mandzukic which was crisply parried by Palermo's goalie, Josip Posavec. Another attempt saw Sami Khedira lay out the ball for the Croatian striker who could not get something good from it after Posavec raced back to the goal and was able to block out the ball from getting into the back of the net.

Minutes later, Mandzukic was finally able to find the back of the net. However, the goal was disallowed. Palermo put on pressure in an attempt to get an equalizer but it was in vain as the match finally ended 1 - 0 on favour of the Massimiliano Allegro's men.

While speaking to Sky Sport, defender Leonardo Bonucci blamed their inefficiency on lots of mistakes made by teammates.

“In technical terms, we made a lot of mistakes and when you play for Juventus that can’t happen. Compliments to Palermo. They played well, defended well throughout.

“We have to use this game as a stepping stone to improving. Now, it’s time to focus on the Champions League and winning our next game in Zagreb,” he said.
La Vecchia Signora will now have their Tuesday Champions League game against Dinamo Zagreb to think of especially after having played a goalless match with Sevilla.
